Just like diesel doesn’t go in a gasoline powered car, there are ways to properly fuel our bodies.

In terms of nutrition, the very first step to speeding up your metabolism is eating small, well-balanced, whole-food meals throughout the day. Once we women set our minds to something, there is no stopping us. That go-go-go, accomplish-and-achieve attitude kicks some serious glutes, girl! But we do need and deserve rest. Recharge and refresh the machine that is your body so you can keep running strong and keep that metabolism up.

Keep recovery in mind. Listen to your body. Know your body and understand what it needs. If you are in pain or feel overworked, take a recovery day—that’s totally acceptable. Although you may feel like recovery is not doing much for your metabolism, your body is in constant function. Lean muscle mass burns approximately 50 calories a day at rest—so even when you’re resting, you’re working!
